Monday I decided to pull out all the Christmas decorations and start our new tradition of Elf on the Shelf. I've seen this floating around the web the last few years and decided it would be fun to have our own elf. Little did I realize how dramatic his entrance would be.
I wrapped the book and left it on our front porch before getting Brandon from work. I knew Wes would find it as soon as he got home from school. After getting home Wesley opened the door and said "The shelf fell off the wall and I didn't touch it!"
Why yes our shelf did fall off the wall and everything had gone all over the floor and look we have a mysterious package addressed to Wesley and Thomas that showed up right before the shelf fell.
Wesley opened the package and read the book aloud to the family. He started looking around trying to see if he could spot the elf. After finishing the book we all started suggesting names. Brandon said maybe we should call him Fatbutt since he clearly broke our shelf (of course Wes thought that was hilarious). Wes then suggested Steve and Brandon said that his nickname should be Chunky Monkey.
Afterwards we found him on my scrapbook shelf clearly looking across the apartment to the shelf he had knocked down earlier. ;)
So although I couldn't have ever predicted that the dumb shelf would fall off the wall it happened at the perfect moment to make Wesley really wonder if this little stuffed elf just might have magic. Wesley even insisted on writing Santa a letter before going to bed.
Yesterday he was found on top of our Christmas tree with a roll of toilet paper.
Today took a lot of searching on Welsy's part. Brandon finally helped him a little when he said that he needed to start getting ready for school. He opened the fridge to get the milk for his cereal when he spied him next to the milk with the blue food coloring.

Such a fun post! Hope you all had a great holiday. Happy New Year!!
