I decided to join in with Ali Edwards this year and document the week. I'm hoping to grab little pieces of things that are going on here right now. I will be using a combination of photos taken with the big camera and the kindle. Kindle photos aren't the best but great for places where I don't want to drag around the dslr . . . such as church.
Ali starts her documentation of Monday morning, but I decided to start instead on Sunday. To me the week always starts with Sunday :)
I woke up to the smell of waffles. Brandon doesn't often cook. Especially since his repertoire consists of waffles, spaghetti, eggs, mac n' cheese, and pancakes. He does however have the waffles thing down. Since we have 12:30 church this year he occasionally gets up and makes breakfast for everyone.
However we were running a bit late and I quickly started the four of us getting showered/bathed for church. Brandon got Thomas in next as I started getting ready.
The only day I actually take the time and effort to do my hair and make-up.
I was reminded of how much of a hoarder I am after snapping this picture. This is a shirt from my college days that I can't seem to get rid of. For one it's my favorite color and two it's a shirt that I've gauged my weight loss and gain on in the last fifteen years. It's been nice to note that despite the scale not budging much this shirt has started fitting better and better.
We have walked to church most of the summer. Wes and Thomas often walk to church hand in hand and Brandon and I right behind them.
The best three hours of the week. Brandon and Wes both helped with the sacrament this week. Brandon praying and Wesley passing. I kept Thomas entertained with the New Testament Stories on the LDS Tools app. Once the sacrament was finished the boys fought over who was going to sit next to me. Wes won, but Brandon still managed to hold my hand across the back of the bench. I love that he makes the effort!
I didn't have to teach this week and it was so nice to be able to sit and soak in the spirit.
Once church was over we made plans to head to Layton park for the free concert with the Peterson's. We worked together to get dinner on, treats made (rice krispy treats), water bottles filled, and chairs packed so we were ready to leave at 6.
Brandon tried to convince me we needed to run to the store really quick to pick up treats. Claiming "ox in the myre". It's really become more of an inside joke of an old pioneer story. His sweet tooth every Sunday has really started to become predictable:)
We got to the amphitheater early, claimed our spots, and left the Brandon's to take the kids to the playground.
Thomas would follow her anywhere. He loves his Bella so much and she in turn is so good to him. I forget most of the time that three years separates their ages.
The concert was changed from the program and Sun Shade n' Rain performed. A local singing group that have been together for over 45 years. They sang a lot of older songs, but it was still very enjoyable.
There was still daylight once the concert was over and we went down to the walkway that runs along the water to see the ducks and geese.
We enjoyed a beautiful sunset while the kids threw bread to the ducks. A wonderful evening with some of my favorite people.
Once home the boys had a few moments in their rooms before we tucked them in. Wes of course on his kindle and Thomas already with a thumb in his mouth.
